Since our establishment in 1972, Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) has become one of the major property developers in Hong Kong. We have developed a corporate culture that intrinsically promotes caring for the communities in which we operate. Our motto, ‘Building Homes with Heart’, reaches further than our business operations, caring not only for the individuals and families who live and work in our properties, but for all of Hong Kong. Over the years, we have been involved in a range of community initiatives, gradually building our three-pronged corporate social responsibility programmes, ranging from reading and holistic development and, healthy and sustainable living, to care for the underprivileged.

We believe that reading is a universal way for us to create joyful communities and a better Hong Kong. Reading aids holistic development and personal growth, enriching our life experiences as individuals, which has a positive effect on society. It is relaxing yet aids promotes learning, stimulating exciting discussions and sharing. Reading also encourages thoughtful communication that builds relationships, whether through social activities, with friends, or between parents and their children, or in the process of intellectual exchange.

The joy of reading and sharing is for everyone. So, in view of embracing the Hong Kong public and developing a brighter, stronger community, in 2013 we brought together our previous reading efforts and activities under the SHKP Reading Club, which is an open, complimentary platform for the community.

The SHKP Reading Club is created for everyone in the community. You are welcome to participate in our regular activities, as well as our programmes and competitions that aim to inspire and encourage reading, writing and creativity among all generations. We regularly publish complimentary magazines to promote interest in reading. Every year, we conduct research to track and understand reading trends and habits in Hong Kong. Our aim is to better the design of our reading initiatives to maximise your enjoyment. And our goal is to make use of our networks and resources to make a lasting contribution to as many different communities in society as we can, always reaching to be more creative and to grow together.
