Fourth Young Writers’ Debut Competition seminar featuring judge Zhang Ya-Dong on creativity

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) and Joint Publishing are staging a fourth Young Writers’ Debut Competition; this time including the mainland.  Eight Hong Kong and mainland creative professionals and veteran writers will provide individual coaching to develop talented young writers, and the winning books will be published in traditional and simplified Chinese versions for Hong Kong and mainland distribution.


Noted Beijing music producer Zhang Ya-Dong is one of the mainland judges and he will speak about creativity at a seminar From Music to Portrait. A bookstore representative will also be there to explain competition and publication details.

Speaker’s biography

Zhang Ya-Dong is a top mainland pop music producer.  He went to Beijing at the age of 22 to begin his career and later produced numerous songs for Faye Wong, achieving great success.  He produced many critically-acclaimed songs and albums for Hong Kong, Taiwan and mainland singers including Li Yuchun, Dou Wei, Daniel Chan, Anthony Wong and Karen Mok.  He is a versatile musician with accomplishments in different genres, especially electronic music.

About the competition


Young Writers’ Debut competitions have helped 23 young authors make their debuts at the Hong Kong Book Fair and in major local bookstores since they started in 2006.


SHKP and Joint Publishing are staging a fourth competition and it is open to mainland contestants to promote cultural exchange.  Hong Kong and mainland creative professionals and veteran writers will offer individual coaching to shortlisted contestants.
